| Visiting
schools and meeting kids are among my favorite parts of being
an author/illustrator.
My interactive presentation is geared toward encouraging
students to write and illustrate their own stories. Through
games and teaching
tricks-of-the-trade, I take kids “inside” the process
of creating picture books. In addition to school visits, I am also
available for regional IRA’s and young author conferences.
Comments from educators I have worked with are included on the
back of this sheet.

Reviews
from Previous Appearances
“Alexander Stadler gained instant rapport with our Lower
School audience. We were thrilled with his friendly and fun way
of reading
aloud, and of gathering kids in to a jazzy but well-led discussion
afterwards. His spontaneous drawings were appreciated by all, and
added an exciting and attention riveting dimension to his visit.
He invited participation, and got it! Everyone was delighted with
the result--a new friend who is an author, too! Alexander has just
the right blend of kid connection and whimsy. We hope he wants to
come see us again and again!”

“Mr. Stadler is a talented
artist and author who understands children very well. Children
find his simple illustrations captivating.
Our
students were rapt watching him demonstrate the many steps he had
to take from drawing the illustrations of his book to its final
publication. The children eagerly and enthusiastically asked questions.
Mr. Stadler
answered all questions with care. Mr. Stadler has great rapport
with children.”

“A premier program that is held annually during Children’s
Book Week is Bookamania, a day-long celebration of children, books
and
children’s authors
and illustrators. For two years in a row Alexander Stadler graced
the Chicago Public Library with his presence at this event. Not only
did he spend Bookamania with the kids of the city of Chicago, but,
for two days prior to the event he conducted visits with children
at nearby library branches. Children, ages 7-9 were filled with wonder
as they interacted with, talked to and created a Beverly craft with
Alexander. Teachers stated that Alexander was a real treasure, for
he gave the children so much of himself and they are now so eager
to read more of his books or books like his.”

“It was thrilling for me, as your first
grade teacher, having known you at the very beginning of your life
as a reader and writer, to have you return as a published author,
sharing your work with the students starting out with me now. The
circle felt beautifully complete.”
Naomi Gams-Towers
Elementary School Teacher

“Alexander not only knows how to write
for children, he knows how to talk to children. His exuberance in
the classroom matches the exuberance of his illustrations.”
